They were worried about the lighting, but that appears to have been resolved," she said."It's an improvement, a good design and a good facility for the stadium."

Brighton defender Adam Webster will undergo surgery on knee ligament injury

Brighton & Hove Albion central defender Adam Webster has been ruled out for the majority of the coming season by a knee ligament injury which requires surgery. The Athletic revealed on Thursday that Webster, 30, picked up the injury during the south-coast club's training camp in Marbella, Spain, which ended on Monday. Head coach Fabian Hurzerler said in a statement on the club website that it is too early to put an exact timescale on the injury but the defender will likely miss a 'large part of the season'. Advertisement 'Adam suffered a knee ligament injury during training last week, and he will undergo surgery in the coming weeks,' Hurzerler told the club website. 'Unfortunately, it was a case of very bad luck. It's a blow to Adam, after he'd come back in great shape for the new season. 'It's also a blow for us, as he has been an important player for us; he is a big character and a leader within the squad. We'll work with him over the months ahead to make sure he gets the best possible care and rehabilitation to get him back to full fitness as quickly as possible.' We can confirm that Adam Webster will undergo surgery on a knee ligament injury. Wishing you a speedy recovery, Webby! 💙🤍 — Brighton & Hove Albion (@OfficialBHAFC) July 26, 2025 Hurzeler was speaking to the club website after Ferdi Kadioglu returned from eight months out through injury in a 2-0 win against Championship side Coventry City behind closed doors at the training ground in Lancing on Saturday. The Turkish international full-back needed an operation on a toe injury sustained last November. Goals by former Coventry loanee Yasin Ayari and Senegal forward Abdallah Sima maintained Brighton's 100% record across four matches so far in the pre-season programme.

AC Milan not jealous of Liverpool, boss Allegri says on eve of Hong Kong clash

Massimiliano Allegri, the AC Milan manager, has tipped a capacity crowd at the Hong Kong Football Festival to rouse his team into life against Liverpool on Saturday, days after the Italians lost to Arsenal in Singapore. Advertisement And he said there was 'no jealousy' over Liverpool's mammoth summer transfer spend as he prepared his players to take on the English Premier League champions. Liverpool this week added the US$112 million capture of Hugo Ekitike to the signings of Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Giorgi Mamadashvili. Allegri has brought in veteran midfielder Luka Modric – who is not in Hong Kong – midfielder Samuele Ricci, and Pervis Estupinan, who travelled from England on Friday after completing a move from Brighton & Hove Albion. 'I'm happy with my team, we're working in the market to find the right players,' he said. AC Milan fans in Hong Kong brave the rain to watch the team's public training session. AC Milan close to agreement with Brighton for Pervis Estupinan

AC Milan are close to reaching an agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion for defender Pervis Estupinan after making a second offer for the Ecuadorian. Brighton want to recoup at least the £15million they paid Villarreal for Estupinan in August 2022 and, while a final fee is still to be agreed, there has been progress in discussions between the clubs. Advertisement Estupinan sat out Brighton's 2-0 win over Las Palmas in a behind-closed-doors friendly in Marbella on Monday night, as talks over his exit continued. Competition for Brighton's starting left-back position has increased this summer, with Maxim De Cuyper arriving from Club Brugge earlier this month for a fee of €20million (£17.3m) plus add-ons, according to sources speaking on the condition of anonymity. The Belgium international joins Estupinan and Ferdi Kadioglu — who spent the majority of the season sidelined with a toe injury — at the club, while Igor, Tariq Lamptey and Jack Hinshelwood all featured at left-back last season. Estupinan joined Brighton in August 2022 from Spanish side Villareal for just under £15m and has gone on to make 104 appearances for the club, scoring five goals and providing 14 assists. The 27-year-old enjoyed a fruitful first season on the south coast, appearing in 41 games and recording nine assists as Brighton achieved their best ever Premier League finish of sixth and qualified for the Europa League. His 2023-24 campaign was heavily disrupted by injuries as he was limited to 28 games in all competitions. Estupinan played 30 Premier League games in the 2024-25 campaign, starting 26, under head coach Fabian Hurzeler, who replaced Roberto de Zerbi last summer. Brighton have been active on the incomings front this transfer window. In addition to De Cuyper, centre-backs Olivier Boscagli and Diego Coppola have arrived from PSV Eindhoven and Hellas Verona respectively, while 18-year-old striker Charalampos Kostoulas joined from Olympiacos. Wingers Yun Do-young and Tommy Watson have also joined after the club agreed deals to sign both players, from Daejeon Hana Citizen and Sunderland respectively, earlier this year. On July 2, Brighton confirmed the departure of forward Joao Pedro to Chelsea, in a deal worth in excess of £50m. ()
